Usually, FIFA World Cup will be scheduled in the months of May, June, or July. However, this is the first time that the FIFA tournament is scheduled during the winters, that is November and December. This is due to the extreme hot and humid climate in Qatar. As per the official announcements, FIFA World Cup 2022 is going to start its matches on 20th November 2022, and the last match will be held on 18th December 2022.

FIFA World Cup 2022 Groups

This time, the FIFA World Cup 2022 will be participated by 32 countries, which are grouped into 8 different groups – Group A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and Group H. Each group has 4 countries in it.  Below is the list of countries and their respective group names.

FIFA World Cup 2022 Matches Schedule:

Total of 64 matches, that going to be played between 32 countries are planned to be held in eight different venues in Qatar. They will be played in eight stadiums, in which four of the stadiums are in Doha and remaining in Lusail, Al Khor, Al Wakrah, and Al Rayyan. All the Group stage matches will be held in four times – 3.30 p.m., 6.30 p.m., 9.30 p.m., and 12.30 a.m. as per the IST.

Final group matches (8 matches) are scheduled at 8.30 PM. Quarterfinals (round of 16 matches) is scheduled at 8.30 Pm and 12.30 AM. Semifinals are tabled on 14th and 15th of December at 12.30 AM. And finally, the FIFA World Cup 2022 Final match of the tournament is scheduled for 18th December at 8.30 PM, followed by a closing ceremony.

FIFA World Cup 2022 Tickets

Football lovers, who want to witness the FIFA World Cup 2022 can still purchase the tickets online from the FIFA official website – Fifa.com site. Initially, the FIFA World Cup tickets were sold for Qatar only as a first phase of the sales. And it was closed in March 2022 and sold about 8, 00,000 tickets in Qatar.

Post which, second phase was opened in April 2022, after the group stage matches were confirmed. And the fans worldwide booked tickets during this stage.


Now, from 27th September, the last phase of the ticket sale is opened, which they call it as “Last-minute sales phase”, and it will remain open till the match kick-offs.  It is estimated that, around 3, 00,000 tickets are still remaining for this FIFA World cup 2022.

FIFA World Cup Live Telecast

For FIFA World Cup 2022, there will be a live broadcast on the TV channels – Telemundo in Spanish and FOX Sports (FOX and FS1) in English. Also, it will be live streamed on OTT of Peacock, Fubo, SlingTV, and Vidgo. USA people can also watch the FIFA world cup live from FOX channels. And also from other streaming apps like Youtube TV that can access these FOX networks.


Openin ceremony of the FIFA World Cup 2022 will happen on 20th November, at Al Bayt Stadium in Qatar. Many celebs are going to perform on the opening ceremony including famous BTS member Jeon Jungkook, Nora Fatehi, and Shakira. Many of the BTS fans are excited about this news, and trying to book their slots in the opening ceremony and the first-day match in the “Last minute ticket sale” phase.

Qatar government has introduced a special kind of ticket or access card called “Hayya card” for this FIFA World Cup. Everyone who wants to enter Qatar to watch the FIFA World Cup must have this Hayya card to enter the stadium, along with a valid match ticket.
Those who have this card will be able to get a special Visa, with which they can travel easily from their country to Qatar and get permission to stay in Qatar for 2 months (till January 2023).
